F5 2017 survey shows that security requirements have accelerated the rapid popularity of application services

on January 11, 2017, F5 networks today released the "state of application delivery 2017". This global customer survey shows that the accelerated deployment of cloud computing has driven the demand for security application services, including network application firewall WAF, DNSSEC and DDoS protection. Because the increase of application services often requires additional resources to be invested, the surveyed enterprises also tend to adopt the development and maintenance of Devops to improve operational efficiency through automation and programmable capabilities. The demand for this kind of operation extension flexibility has exceeded the requirements of enterprises for speed to market, and has become the main driving force for the deployment of Devops

f5 Emmanuel bonnassie, executive vice president of Networks Asia Pacific, pointed out: "As the online service economy increasingly requires speed and efficiency, applications have become the core of business strategies in the Asia Pacific region. The 2017 research on the status of application delivery clearly found that with the transformation to a faster, smarter and more secure customer experience, new dynamics have emerged, which means that enterprises are increasingly relying on mobile and application centric it advanced technology.

f5 application delivery status report has entered its third year this year By examining the key functional roles of application services, we can help enterprises deploy applications faster, smarter and safer. More than 2000 it, networking, application and security experts worldwide participated in this application delivery survey, covering topics such as cloud adoption, emerging security challenges, Devops, SDN, and the future development of enterprise application services

survey summary

this survey covers government, financial services, science and technology, education and other industries around the world. Their work scope includes infrastructure, it security, application development, Devops and business executives. The key findings are as follows:

security is the first priority, and increasingly complex attacks are the biggest challenge: in order to cope with more and more hacker activities targeting applications, the security team has expanded beyond the traditional firewall and the surrounding enterprises. Overall, the three security service deployments in the plan include DDoS protection (21%), DNSSEC (25%) and web application firewall (20%). The survey shows that in terms of the tolerance of application layer attacks, the companies that have the most confidence are those that install web application firewalls, including cloud priority enterprises

2017 will enter the era of cloud expertise: today is a multi cloud world, four fifths of the surveyed enterprises adopt hybrid cloud, and nearly one third (32%) of the respondents said that they would purchase public cloud IAAs solutions this year, significantly more than 25% in 2016. In addition, the more applications the company deploys, the greater the motivation is to use the cloud to improve operational efficiency. The respondent enterprises that deploy the largest number of applications (more than 3000) are the enterprises with the highest proportion of cloud application deployment. Jinan Shijin reciprocating tension and compression testing machine is in the range of instrument operation speed

the number of application service deployments continues to rise: on average, enterprises say they have deployed "14 application services (higher than 11 in 2016), and plan to achieve an average of 17 application service deployments in the next 12 months

operation extension and programmability have become the highest motivation for adopting Devops: the increase of application services and the continuous expansion of cloud deployment have prompted enterprises to seek automation and coordination tools to extend operations across different environments. Therefore, more than half of the respondents now think that API enabled infrastructure and templates are very important, which is higher than last year's 31% and 22% respectively. Scalability and operating expenditure savings (OPEX) are still the two driving forces for the adoption of SDN architecture, and the more the company is a "master" of quality control, the more inclined it is to standardization. In 2017, 39% relied on a single architecture, up from 32% in 2016
